The problem was still present few days ago, with a SVN revision 30919 on QEMU.

The test_dir test was printed, and then nothing happened.
A lot of time later, some debug stuff wad printed in debug/serial line.

Might be that some loop or recursivity was executed during failed test or
assertion.

To reproduce this bug, you need python to be able to read files.
To make python read files this patch might help.
