The underscore issue is a paint/font issue. After typing underscores in notepad
when a repaint is forced by display/hide statusbar the unterscores are
displayed properly.

The numpad is a bit broken in kbdus too, do a shift+numpad/ you get a question
mark.

About braces may be the first 'four printable symbols per key', any hint
appreciated.
