I can confirm a regression too (with bug 2796 which was marked as a duplicate
of this bug). 
I've just downloaded livecd release 30521 (the latest release as I write this). 
I ran it in qemu (version 0.9.0-2ubuntu4). I'm running Linux Mint v4. 
The liveCD boots fine, but the mouse-pointer is locked and nothing will move
it...
