I tried an install in a MS Virtual Server (more or less the same as Virtual
PC), and got the dreaded "partition signature != 55AA" message.  I remembered
that there were some weird size limits involving FAT partitions - the virtual
disk size had been 127G, and I hadn't bothered to reduce the size of this for
the install partition.

On a hunch, I reduced the size of the virtual disk to something like 1G, and
then was able to install without incident.

My thinking is that whatever the limits for FAT partitions really are here
ought to be enforced in the setup program.
