Cleaned ThreadFunc patch for installer hang

Basically the same as patch 4375, I just cleaned it up a little.
It tests fine on my box, killing hung installers as it should.

It may not be the perfect solution, but until Mr.Ged can give us
his fantastic "hung application detector" that responds immediately,
this patch at least gives the user a fighting chance.
