The problem isn't so much the performance of your machine but the fact the VS
itself has a hard time managing so many projects.
When I was originally working with this a few years back my VS used to become
very slow and unstable, regularly crashing.

This is the main reason I've never given the .sln generator any attention.

Maybe things have changed now with the recent VS service packs?
