I got several of these during the installation of vlc 0.8.6:

(ntoskrnl/io/iomgr/file.c:420) Using IopParseDevice() hack. Requested invalid
attributes: 9
(dll/win32/kernel32/file/volume.c:509) NtQueryVolumeInformationFile failed for
C:\
