But unless you're going to employ people, you can't force them to work on
the 4th wheel or the fire hazard.
People don't come here to be bossed around, they come here for fun.

Take away the fun, lose the devs.

It's better to have 20 devs working on things that interest them, than
trying to force them to work on certain things and ending up with 0 devs.
