it's rumored that Windows NT was ported to the Alpha AXP only as part of an 
out-of-court settlement, Microsoft allegedly admitting their team had 
"learned" too much from their previous experience on VMS. It makes sense: 
Windows NT 3.1 through 4 for Alpha AXP were 32-bit systems, very out of 
place considering the AXP was natively 64-bit (i.e. not a 32-bit system 
later extended)
