[ros-kernel] The best way ?

I am thinking on implementing ROS Updater (for future when networking is 
ready) and i was wondering what download/network method would be more 
suitable : 
 1. Using wininet or http in client and cgi-based server 
 2. Implementing a new protocol for updating. 
 
 
I would prefer method 1 becuase we can use SSL/Certificates to be sure 
that the site updates come from is ours. 
 
 
If someone have some thoughts about it please tell me now, before i 
start working on it
