Uwe, could you try the Smart Boot Manager that Kenneth J Davis has 
prepared for the pre-made FreeDOS bootdisk of the next distribution?

instructions:
*boot from floppy
* option 1 (386-enhanced)
* option 3 (Smart Boot Manager)
* select cdrom as bootdevice

if everything goes OK, it overrides the built-in Eltorito support by 
Smart Boot Manager's one.
