There's a #define WRAP_HISTORY in config.h. IIRC the wrapping is a NT4
behaviour. Should we change it?

I like that circular way (is a matter of getting the shortest path sometimes). Why don't you make it configurable at run time (per user registry key maybe) as someone might like it to stop.
