Hi,

it seems that the vmware CDROM isn't an atapi device. An atapi device must
response with 0xeb/0x14 after a soft reset. Do you know the last revision
which has worked? I've looked to the linux ide driver. Linux doesn't use the
reset command for detecting the devices. Linux uses first an ATA identify
command and if the drive does response with an error it sends an ATAPI
identify command. We should change the device detection to this way.
