Re: [NewIdea]A new way to push ReactOS Development [NewIdea]
Uhmm..I am not agree in "the real money will come from corporation donations". A perfect example is Haiku Uhhmm.. If you look at Haiku's donation stats you will see that the largest part of the 23.000 they raised, came from companies. For example, Haikuware donated 10.000, that's halve of...

Re: Arwinss : Alternative names + logo request
You are right that the idea was to have unchanged Wine code, but I really like to see Arwinss useable for end-users, not just a testing branch for Wine behaviour. To improve Arwinss, it will forces me to become a Wine-dev :( An unpopular one too, because everything I commit is useless for Linux beca...

Re: Arwinss : Alternative names + logo request
Just an example: I added support for various missing shell notifications to Arwinss, to make explorer-new.exe function better. A quick look at the trunk code learned that the rare ones were also missing in trunk. So I decided to also apply them there. But the whole flow (creating a window, actually ...

Re: Arwinss : Alternative names + logo request
Arwinss will be merged to trunk as soon as possible, so we will have both winSS in trunk. It's easy to copy the Arwinss files to a folder in the trunk branch, but by merging I actually ment to say: creating one user32 from the two branches, using the best parts of Arwinss and the best parts of Trun...

Re: Arwinss : Alternative names + logo request
@zefklop It's always handy to have a different testing-branch, to test behaviours, etc. But you cannot compare Arwinss paralell development to that of Yarotows. Yarotows was ment from day 1, to re-intregate back in the trunk batch. Timo regulary synced it, and after it was stable, it could be merged...

Re: Arwinss : Alternative names + logo request
@hto: What does yarotows have to do with it? @fred02: It's true that the basic idea is to develop the two branches in parallel, so technically you are right that the old code will not be obsolete. But that's only in theory, in daily practise we do not have enough developers to maintain ONE branch, l...

Re: Making ReactOS more public
Reactos will be dead then. But at least we still have shitloads of unsold coffee mugs and stickers to remember it foreverSure, we could use huge corporate sponsors. But what if we don't get any for a decade?

Re: Making ReactOS more public
Sort of like school bake sales, yard sales, etc., but with things like shirts, cups, mouse pads, bumper stickers, etc. All the proceeds would go to the foundation. I don't think the people that aren't donating now, will start donating when they get a free cup/pad with their donation. Besides, you w...

Re: Arwinss : Alternative names + logo request
This is inexact. Existing Win32 parts are not obsolete I think you should read the Arwinss wiki ;) Of course they will be obsolete. Arwinss replaces our user32/gdi32 dll's, with those of Wine. So a large part of Reactos becomes obsolete, and many bug-fixes have to be repeated in the new codebase. B...

Re: Making ReactOS more public
It has been said before, but there is absolutely no point in advertising Reactos to end-users (or even developers). Devs with enough knowledge to write kernel/subsystem code will come across the project very easily, because just by googling for some win32 API you will come across parts of the Reacto...

Re: Arwinss : Alternative names + logo request
First of all, I don't think Arwinss should be renamed, it's just an internal component. The average end-user will not care how we call the network stack or GDI subsystem. But since MS also uses fancy codenames for similar components (Aero, Indigo, WinFX, etc.), it's always nice to brainstorm. Rewind...

Changing e-mail address
When I change my address through MyReactos, and click the link in the activation mail, I get: So you have a new email address and would like to keep your ReactOS.org account up-to-date? That is a very good idea. To confirm your email address change, please enter your new email address again. Then i ...

I don't know for sure, but I think they don't get commited, because there is a new rule: no more committing new code until all regressions are fixed
