Re: ReactOS Fundraising Failure
Do we have to keep bumping a topic with "failure" in the title? How about splitting it in to a new topic "ReactOS Fundraising Win!". Because really, any money is a win. Especially these days.

Re: Dynamic Application Translation
This is basically the same approach that FX!32 took on the Digital Alpha CPUs under NT 4. Unfortunately, that didn't fly too well back then. And the Alpha had the advantage of being a FASTER processor than the x86 for a time. So it is probably technically possible, but would still be an inferior exp...

Re: Important: ReactOs - HCI/UX
I assume you are just talking about the applications that are built and included with ReactOS. For the most part those currently follow the Windows 95/2000 user interface standards. Most of the development focus is still on core components such as the kernel, so there doesn't appear to be any offici...

Re: Did YOU SEE THIS VIDEO
I once ran a DOS based IDE low level formatting utility from inside Windows 95. Unlike NT, it actually let you do that kind of crazy stuff. I think it took it a minute or two to figure out its files were all gone! And the formatter was still chugging away.

Re: Are there some Christmas good news for reactos community
You can tell that there has been a LOT of work going on just by looking at the diffs log: http://www.reactos.org/archives/public/ ... /date.html But that is way too much info for most people to digest

Re: Website Revamp: Your feedback is very needed !
Having submitted stuff to the Wine AppDB before, I can tell you it is nowhere near as friendly. Perhaps it could be improved, but just off the top of my head: It is difficult to search for specific items. There is no good way to randomly browse items (no a..z like ReactOS CompatDB has). No good way ...

Re: Why OS/2 failed
It is interesting to think that if IBM had better marketed OS/2 we might just still be using it today. (It is still available today as eComstation BTW) Back in the day, OS/2 got a bad stigma for a variety of reasons. First there was the idea that "OS/2 would only run on IBM hardware". This...

A lot of the older CompatDB test reports have messed up version numbers, and should indeed be purged. At minimum there needs to be some way that designated people can edit and delete stuff. I'll volunteer to help clean up entries if I'm permitted.

Re: Download ReactOS Trunk Builds
"win" means that it is compiled on a Windows host. The others are compiled on a Linux host. The distinction is made because sometimes the build environments can inadvertently do things a little different. Also, for a while one was using the CMAKE build system and the other was using the ol...

Possible to install two different versions of VirtualBox?
Probably a dumb question, but is there any way to have two different versions of VirtualBox installed at the same time under Windows?
Not using them at the same time, just need an older version for one thing and a newer for another.

Re: Different varieties of the OS
Here is a much more tolerable Windows 8 commercial that shows off all of the brand new cutting edge features of Windows 8! 8-) Implementing ANY user interface at all over a metro app would be a problem as it insists on using the entire freaking screen. Blows my mind. When it comes to TVs, it i...

Re: Different varieties of the OS
ReactOS is open source, so yes you can customize it any way you want if you don't mind hacking at lots of C code.
If ReactOS were as popular as Linux, I'm sure you would have already seen people forking it left and right and customizing the heck out if it.
