What is the roadmap to 0.4.0?

(Note: This is a serious topic. Nothing in this post is meant to be offensive, rude, demanding, ignorant, etc. I am not asking how long until 0.4.0 - I know that it will be released "when it's ready", just like most other software out there (although my personal guess would be from 1-2 ye...

Re: ReactOS for DirectX 11, is this possible?

I've always wondered how they'd want to get DX11, as DX11 seems tied to Vista/Win7 and thus to a drivermodel (WDDM?) beyond what XP/2003 use and what ReactOS aims for. Perhaps Wine's conversion from DirectX to OpenGL will do the trick. Because the target OS is a moving target. Used to be nt4, then ...

Re: Arm Development and Raspberry pi

*edit* I'm disappointed, I'm not even the first one on the forums to think of this. I've just gone into more detail. Quite correct PascalDragon. Sometimes I have problems explaining advanced concepts, so I'm glad to see that I'm starting to make some sense. I've done a bit more research and managed...

Re: Source code for importlibs?

That sounds like a worthy contribution. Of course, unless the ReactOS guys officially adopted it they may not be able to support it, but perhaps it wouldn't be a problem if users who used an alternate compiling method did testing in both their builds and regular builds.

It should probably be locked, people who need to add to it should be able to do that (moderators+).

Re: amd64 build

Also, there probably would be no performance improvement at this stage. The only reason to do it would be driver and software compatibility - I would imagine x64 drivers wouldn't work anyways (they probably need specific coding work that may not have been done yet), and same goes for software.

Re: Arm Development and Raspberry pi

I understand that this is an advanced topic that I have little grasp of (though I am quoting experts in the field), and that I am not qualified to make declatory statements. Please consider what experience you have with this kind of programming and QEMU in general while posting. Please include spec...

Re: Arm Development and Raspberry pi

My point of running ReactOS on the Raspberry Pi by using a Linux distro combined with a QEMU binary running on top of the proper ARM architecture but emulating x86 (or maybe even x86-64) is that you have a cheap dedicated machine for testing ReactOS on. It's not native hardware ofcourse, but using ...

Re: Ros support for VirtualBox or other(Sug. by Revision:562

These are items that have been discussed many different times (ARM support, 64-bit support, multi-processor support). Consider this: If you were building a car from scratch, would you be concerned about performance when your car couldn't get to the end of the block without dying? Would you put on ra...

Re: Arm Development and Raspberry pi

As much as I like ARM, this whole discussion is so pointless If you feel it is pointless, then you should be in another topic. Posting that is not only non-conducive to a reasonable discussion, I think it's borderline uncivil. ReactOS tries to correspond to Win2k/XP, from the desktop user's point o...

Re: Arm Development and Raspberry pi

You do know that this does not mean that Windows on ARM will run x86 applications? "Win32" is merely the name of the API that Windows is using and providing. It's (mostly) not dependend on the platform or bitness (Win64 also uses/provides the Win32 API in 64-Bit mode!). You cannot expect ...

Re: Has anyone heard of the ESPL Dependable Systems Lab?

Note that RevEng sounds somewhat dangerous from a copyright perspective, since it sounds like it's basically reconstructing C code from directly disassembly. I didn't read if it creates C or if it goes from binary to binary. We couldn't use that, but end users could under the fair use doctrine (mod...
