Re: Installation monitor and uninstaller
This doesn't scale too well. Imagine more than few apps being observed, while any other I/O operation ongoing, this would affect your OS just as another antivirus, if not worse.

Re: Suggestion to grow the userbase
Would it be a bad idea to have a small package that sets up a VM and downloads the latest ROS build? Maintenance would be extremely minimal for such a package. See how Wine Debian package is doing, how much time is needed to deploy each release... and in this case Wine is much easier to maintain th...

Re: Suggestion to grow the userbase
That requires packaging and upkeeping work to be done. Again, resources spent with just a promise of possible interest. If someone is willing to volounteer for that - great, but its not possible for us at the present moment.

Re: Read only os pro and cons
This sounds like a brand new project, which would base off ReactOS. With modifications to such extent, differences would be too severe for us to be able to group it. It would be another product as well, requiring its own tests and infrastructure. This is beyond our capabilities, someone else would h...

Re: arwinss in reactos?
The general idea is to allow ARWINSS to be loaded into modules dir. If present, CMake will automagically pick that up and build ReactOS-ARWINSS version instead of Win32SS.

Re: older versions of NT as a target for development?
It's not that hard to reach 4 GB of used RAM today. If I want to play Minecraft (haha, such lousy graphics! :-) ) with my friends, I start OS, Minecraft server, Minecraft client, Chrome (to look up any info needed) and use 4-5 GB RAM without much hassle. I agree that normal people won't use that mu...

Re: Why are developers so obsessed with upgrades?
if I've moved on I would have no obligation or real motive to go and fix it, since I've abandoned the project and am not interested in maintaining it anymore. Seriously? Are you so self-oriented that you would not make a fix? You should check for how VirtualBOX is treating its community. Li...

So what's the point of this post? The point is to display how much you have to plow through to find even the silliest of bugs. Also please note I didn't explain a tenth of what I did to find this. Suffice it to say, what you and I as users may see as "silly easy, 1 minute fix" may in real...

Neither of this is not true to quite a big extent.SomeGuy wrote:Windows XP AKA NT 5.1 (with service packs) is basically the same thing as Windows 2003 server AKA NT 5.2, and not radically different from 2000 AKA NT 5.0.

I will take a look at it, but if vt-x cpu is required, finding a suitable platform might take time.
