Re: Using serial ports for more than debug
I just tried the 0.3.15 release and both ports work as long as I leave the cables connected! If I disconnect the cable to either port they then fail. I'll try to do more testing but this looks much better than the last time I tested. Here is the program I'm using (2 copies of): http://www.CtrlTerm.com

Re: Minimal System setup
I also use Delphi as well as Free Pascal. I've wanted to do things similar to what you've mentioned.

Re: ReactOS on eBox and embedded systems
I just installed and tested r56661 dbg and it all seems to work OK but crashes when I plug the LAN cable in. I captured a little of a debug log (below) but I'll try to gather more info soon. Please let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions. Boot took 15849399734 cycles! Interrupts: 1915 Syste...

Re: Using serial ports for more than debug
I just installed and tested r56661 dbg and COM2 now seems to work! Even with the default bootup choice (where it doesn't send any debugging info out COM1) COM1 still fails to send properly and still doesn't receive anything. Hopefully I can now use r56661 and figure out how to get both COM1 and the ...

Re: baudrate problem solved
Please see the "Using serial ports for more than debug" thread in the support forum: http://www.reactos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=9758 As part of that thread I've released a serial debug terminal that can be used to capture the ReactOS debug log. I'm still making improvements to th...

Re: Using serial ports for more than debug
I have posted a 3.9 MB zip file that has the compiler and source code for my current serial debug terminal on this page: http://www.turbocontrol.com/easyfpgui.htm No installation is needed. Just extract the zip into a new folder. Open a command prompt in the root folder of what was extracted. Then t...

Re: Using serial ports for more than debug
I forgot to mention that I'm opening the ports without any flow control but since some of those functions are stubs in the driver the port must be getting opened for hardware handshaking.

Re: Using serial ports for more than debug
On the rel build I'm able to use COM2 (but connected to the physical COM1 port) to send and receive data as long as I have the hardware lines connected to my other PC (using a null-modem cable). If I momentarily disconnect the serial cable (and thus the hardware lines) and then restore the cable thi...

Re: Using serial ports for more than debug
I just compiled a fresh rel boot cd. Thanks! I'll give it a test and let you know how it works. If one port fully works I have several places I can put ReactOS into operation for real stuff. Dbg builds work for me as well as the rel ones. Could you please describe your system a little? Is it a real...

Re: Using serial ports for more than debug
Must be some simple way to search the source code and fix things so that the serial port is completely left alone when ReactOS is started normally? If we can do that then the dbg build cd should work just as well as the last rel build cd.

Just tried r54672 and PC locks up whenever the LAN cable is connected which is the same as before.

Just tried r54672 and problems remain. Is there any estimate of when rel boot cds will again be available?

Here is a *very* easy way to try a recent Free Pascal and fpGUI that does work in ReactOS:jorge1987 wrote: But, now I'm gonna try to use Lazarus, and I'm going to make a post to show you what I get.
