ReactOS as a Rescue System?

Post by rihaankhan »

there are many linux based live rescue systems out there, and it's possible to make windows based ones. but is it possible to do the same with reactos? i'd love to take the reactos live iso, put some helpful windows tools on it (that aren't available on linux rescue discs) and boot it up in case i need it. i just don't like having to use windows for my windows rescuing, so if it were possible to do with reactos that'd be great.

In the past, I've tried using an ISO modification tool to add programs to the "All Users" desktop, but ended up breaking the 'bootable' part of the LiveCD, which effectively made it useless. I'm sure with the right combination of tools and know-how, someone could actually manage to customize one though.

If you end up experimenting and finding a solution, please post it here!

First of all, ReactOS should have RAM disk driver with write support.

Currently it works in read-only mode.

Well, variations of Puppy Linux are used for rescue/recovery for a reason, as they are tiny. ReactOS is not large, but likely cannot be as tiny as the smallest Linux versions.
