Feature Suggestions

Post by stefan »

Hi,
first, i think a little box with the 10 most recent posts on the startpage of reactos.org would be nice.
second, there was a comment function on test.reactos.org. what happened to it?

Keep up the great work,
Stefan

It's not possible to add such a box ("10 most recent posts"). The frontpage is a static page (html file) and xhtml 1.1 doesn't support iframes. But maybe we could add a rss feed for the forum.

I removed the comment function, until i have more time to fix this feature.

But the frontpage can call a JavaScript code made in PHP. That wouldn't broke XHTML (although some browser would not see that advanced feature)

The current page uses javascript. But it is not possible to implement the sugestion with it.
Where do you want ReactOS to go today ?

It seems a bit strange the phrase 'it is not possible'. I'm sure it is possible, if the javascript called is an PHP file and it reports its Content-Type properly (header() funtion). The more problematic site is in my opinion the integration with the forum although i have already thought in some manners to add it trying to be the less CPU consuming as possible.

You could use object tags instead of iframes as suggested by the W3C.
<object type="text/html" style="width:foo;height:bar"></object>
should do...
