You can't write applications for ROS; there's no such thing. ReactOS runs Windows software, so ROS apps are just Windows apps.zydon wrote:ROS don't need a scripting engine. It need a visual app programming IDE and a compiler. Even a kid could write an application in ROS. A good example is App Inventor for Android. If something like that could be ported into ROS to take advantages of batch scripting and implemented Win32 libraries, a lots of times will be saved for ROS users to create productive applications. Probably, a ROS App market will follow later.

While I do not disagree on your comment, being able to "script" tasks is hugely
important to some users. I, for example, could leave behind linux (I think it is
a decent OS/ecosystem but I am not hugely emotionally attached to it), but
I can't see abandoning almost 20 years of code written in ruby. So for me,
any OS that can not support e. g. ruby, is one that I very unlikely can use.
(But even then I also support e. g. python, since we are in a very similar
use case and niche here. I am sure python guys also would prefer their
python code to work on reactos; perhaps it does, I have no idea. I guess
it needs more people to test stuff regularly.)

And why do you resurrect a 8 yrs old post for that?! CLOSED!
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes.
