Top 100 list
https://verein.ing-diba.de/club/presentation/search
Rank 1. - zebrakids e.V.
It's weird how come a local German organization with ~717 likes on Facebook can have ~13.416 votes?
http://de-de.facebook.com/pages/zebraki ... 4611774664
Rank 34. - ReactOS Deutschland e.V.
While an international project with ~740 likes on Facebook only has ~5.516 votes?
http://www.facebook.com/pages/ReactOS/19143619259
Maybe we should all join zebrakids next year and learn what we are doing wrong with PR 2011?
Because according to above Facebook numbers we should at least be a close second place.

There's probably more to it than that, Witch. My website also has 700 followers on Facebook, and I posted the link and encouraged everyone to vote for ReactOS, so that's two Facebook groups with 700 followers encouraging their members to vote for ReactOS. For all we know, there are 10 Facebook groups with 700, or 7000, or 70000 followers who encouraged their members to vote for Zebrakids.
Also, what's to stop someone from creating an infinite number of email addresses so that they can keep voting? For all we know, their 13000 votes came from three people. For all we know, our 5000 votes came from three people!

Instead of counting amount of unique email votes x3. They should only count amount of unique ip addresses even if ISP sometimes rotates different ips to a single household. That way cheating is "decreased" a lot since only the ISP would change ips, a majority of simple users wouldn't be able to do it.
But then it might simply be because ROS supporters have a smaller outer network compared to the moms, pops and kids outer network at zebrakids.
Either way we are doing something wrong with PR I thinks. It's wasn't coordinated with enough user activity and it wasn't followed through after the first vote for ReactOS email.
Like... Baracks Obama didn't win just by sending one email and using Facebook for the first time in presidential history. There was coordination involved there is none here.

I think "nobleness" is a factor here. Who can compete with organizations which help children? Likewise for animal rights, environmental causes, veteran memorials, etc. We provide an operating system, and someday, we'll have a darned good one. That is important, but not as "sexy" nor popular as the above causes. If you want to get Reactos to the top of the list, target schools, colleges, companies, etc. Few IP addresses, but many email addresses.
Re: Is it true: A german bank would sponsor ReactOS?
ReactOS can, and its purpose has a bigger nobleness factor than all [children help, animal rights, environmental, veteran mems] in the world combined.PurpleGurl wrote:I think "nobleness" is a factor here. Why? When ReactOS has reached stable stage then it can provide all 3rd world countries with free non-binding license operating systems, that can make use of any software ever created dating back to Win 95.
Private companies will be freed from enormous license costs. Enabling them to use the freed up resources to invest in more employees or services from other companies, creating new job opportunities. Giving them space to donate money to any chosen help organization.
Governments will be freed from enormous license costs. Enabling them to use the freed up resources to better help children, animals, environmental and veteran mems in a more official way. Governments have huger impacts than voluntary organizations when they manage to focus on solving a specific problem.
I can't see how any [children help, animal rights, environmental or veteran mems] in the world can contribute on such a global scale alone. ReactOS is the most noble way too help the world in my point of view. The trickle-down effect helps everyone on every level not just one specific aid organization who can only help themselves on their level and not anybody else on all levels.
