1. I think ROS need to be redesigned the applications layout to take the most horizontal space with the least vertical space. This could help smaller screen resolution probably used by the netbook or tablet pc.
2. With some advanced features available in today's hardware such as touch screen, much simpler app layout and scrolling toolbar may need more often than crowded fixed toolbars or menus.
3. An improved popup menu is also required where is more visible and scrollable with bigger fonts so it could be effectively respond to netbook or tablet users that has capacitive touch screen.
4. The classic UI doesn't need to be changed. But each of the control buttons on the application border need to be wider for quicker user actions.
5. Onscreen keyboard would be nice too as a dropdrown keyboard dialog for edit entry. Similar to dropdown calendar dialog for date entry.
Improving the App layout and practicality

Re: Improving the App layout and practicality
It sounds like most of your concerns about about ReactOS being used on laptops or portable devices. ROS really isn't ready for that yet, but some of your suggestions (screen keyboard, adjustable fonts) are not bad ideas. We really cannot, however, redesign application windows. Those are defined by the applications themselves, and we have no way of re-coding 3rd party apps. All the operating system (ROS) does is create the environment in which the applications can run.

What really needs to happen is for hardware manufacturers to start making taller monitors.zydon wrote:1.
