Maybe someone could create Reactos Transformation Pack? So that we could use W7 icons easily

I don't know that a reboot would be required to change the icon set. But that's the right idea for how it will work, I think. Does anyone know if ROS needs a reboot to change icons? (I'm at work - can't check right now.)

I'm very skeptic about this change. My reason:
- The icons need to scale nicely at sizes 32x32 and below as well, ReactOS is meant also for old computers AND small computer screens
- ReactOS may still be running at 16-bit color depth on purpose for someone, then there is a need for non-transparent icons as well

Hi ! It's clear that the original icons will demand some work to create the adequate 32x32 & below formats. Generally they also display great on 16bpp mode (but without the additional alpha-channel etc...)

By reading most of the posts, it becomes clear that a fully ReactOS icon-set cannot appear from nowhere. For the moment we would be obliged to choose existent free (GPL) icon-sets because there are not so much people who want to start this long-standing project, and almost all the devs, are devs, thus not specialized / not having time for doing the icon-set.
Therefore the solutions are :
- choosing a free icon-set and adapt it.
- create a new icon-set ==> have a long-term contract ==> call for some people here or for a professional designer.

By the way, I would like to see far more people here answering the poll to have significant statistics, please !!
This would be useful because Victor and me are preparing an internal note on the change of icon-set and we want to have interesting results.

i like 98/xp icons best but i don't mind having vista/7 icons as a choice

After presenting ReactOS to some of my friends, they all agreed that ReactOS should not have that old Win9x/2k look (window chrome and icons).

The aim of the poll was to see the trend, that is, if we would change the icon set, which new one (amongst the choice) would be the best.
