Lautus - ReactOS visual style

Post by Pisarz »

I was a bit bored yesterday, so I've decided to make some concept, maybe someone likes it. I know some elements require some work - for example window frame, but I hope this will inspire ReactOS designers.

----
ReactOS-compatible build (based on WINE sample): https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/471 ... s.msstyles
Sources: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/471 ... legant.zip
Windows-compatible build (based on Luna.msstyles): https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/471 ... t.msstyles

(btw. it's the same "Elegant Black" as I've published before, but rebranded)
Btw. VS looks like this:

Even though this screen is quite outdated, and I think something is broken here, but don't care, I've fixed it already.

just tip for potential contributors: do not so some work and wait for other people to complete it. If this happened, reactos would be even worse that it is now. If you think that there is some way you can help then please do your best to do as much as you can ;)

Pisarz: this doesn't look bad but it is indeed away from being completed. I wish you can complete it yourself and not wait for someone else to do it. You should also keep in mind that in order for something to take efect in reactos, it should be applicable to windows. Keep up the good work :P

If someone wants me to finish this work-in-progress concept... I would. Suggestions of course are really appreciated. But if you think further work on this concept is a complete waste of time...

I think I could review the structure of msstyles file and try to make some style based on it in a free time, when ReactOS will support theming.

Its simple, its with a typlical "once seen, long time remembered" factor. I really like it ^^
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes.

If my post/reply offends or insults you, be sure that you know what sarcasm is...

Another revision of my concept. The window frame is now starting to look like a window frame, not just some gradient. And I've reduced the size of taskbar a bit.

Wow nice.

But the exit button must be on the corner (for quickly closing :P).

That would be nice. Themes is a gsoc project, so time's getting near. ;)

You can try TBTSoft's StyleBuilder (search on the web) to move from a concept to a real msstyle theme.
Initially you can try also using resource hacker to see what bitmaps you need to create...
Check this out, you might find it useful.

Feedback: I like it. I like how you've taken the atom and used it as the start button, something I've suggested in the past. But, now that I think about it, it could, sometimes, interfere with certain programs, etc.

Also, I like it, but it does look a bit outdated.

something I threw together, kept it as simple as possible.

The start button and other things still need work but, I think it's good so far. Could easily be modified by, really, anyone.

Your concept looks quite great, but I don't like this close button.
I've decided to rework my concept a bit, so it would have any chances of being implemented in the future. And now I've decided not to spend entire day to work on the file explorer window, so now - there is Notepad window. I know it still lacks a scrollbar, but I don't know, do you like this approach more.

It's more real, but still will require transparent taskbar and shadows for taskbar and windows etc.

I like that, but IMHO there is too much "drop shadow"

Agreed. Still like the first one the most. Really clean, really good, no need for transparencies on windows.

I really like the concept expecily the first and third version (the rev2 is bad).

Te design is simple, uniqe (something like ubuntu/win 7) try to get some design elements from google chrome they are super clear and would fit.

The font is little bit to blury
http://pokit.etf.ba/get/?7029fd3dc208e4 ... c99816.png

the X on the window is too big and also the http://pokit.etf.ba/get/?222a0a177af520 ... 2ed796.png

I would really like to see this as the first reactos advanced GUI it's clear and simple.

From the functional part:
http://pokit.etf.ba/get/?06e484c1bedf71 ... ec7566.png

that is bad it takes unnececery space it would be better to make it like rev3, also the title with less blur/shadow
http://pokit.etf.ba/get/?12991f46e7f035 ... c2c586.png

i also don't like the
http://pokit.etf.ba/get/?fceec7e0d05852 ... d00092.png

the elipse, would be better to implement a seperator like a line between the processes:
http://pokit.etf.ba/get/?32c0403bd297e0 ... 6c484d.png

and try some of these:

like:

http://www.iconfinder.com/icondetails/6 ... te_up_icon
http://www.iconfinder.com/icondetails/4 ... sq_up_icon
http://www.iconfinder.com/icondetails/4 ... nd_up_icon
and so on...

hey there.

I've just made some new Wallpapers for ReactOS and I think they would fit quite well to this black elegant concept. If you like it, just leave me a message and I'll send you the 1980*1050 Wallpapers.
