Design References

Postby eXcaliburN » Sun Apr 12, 2009 3:17 pm

Hey, I'm still kinda new and I would like to help with design stuff, what i seem to come up with doesn't fit in with some ReactOS Schema that is locked away somewhere guarded by an invincible and invisible tibetan monk who does not sleep, with a balrog for a pet.

So i suggest that we have this thread Stickied with the following information appended:
-download locations for high res Logo's [multiple versions, perhaps a neat zip file]
-colour code references for the ReactOS 'palate'
ie: text colours, for logos headers, backgrounds, highlights, and outer glow
-basic things like the ReactOS overlay text on the logo in the site above, a source file or instructions for the effect.

Also would like to work on icon sets, as far as i understand we are using a free open source set of icons?
if someone could point me to something[a list or reference of a complete icon set] where I could replace this set of icons with some original ReactOS icons, with the above resources and enough communal criticism, I'm sure I could setup a nice icon library. Or at least enough to get everyone started.

Post all relevant help, or calls for help.

Cheers

You want this: http://svn.reactos.org/reactos/trunk/press-media/art/

Dunno if an official palette exists, but you can extrapolate one from the standard logo.

FYI, the font used by the ReactOS logo is called Avant Garde. A similar one exists called Birth of a Hero: http://www.dafont.com/birth-of-a-hero.font

The current icon set is based on the Tango scheme, with any additional icons adhering to Tango standards. If you want to do a non-Tango theme, then you're welcome to, but just remember that you'll have to replace ALL current icons for consistency. See http://tango.freedesktop.org

Have fun.

Thank you for the links, I will work on an extrapolated palate.

and I shall also create a full replacement icon library, so we can have our own theme.

I'll do a set, post it, get feedback, and polish it. anyone willing to help is welcome, just drop me a line in this thread or PM me?

Cheers

As an update, i have the tango .icl files (icon libraries) there are 9
-places
-mimetypes
-emotes
-status
-actions
-devices
-apps
-catagories
-emblems

i'll start with emotes just for practice, when i am finished i will upload some kind of cheat sheet with the whole lot there for feedback.
anyone willing to help in the endeavor for ReactOS Icons lemme know - i will provide answers to any questions [if i know the answers]
