pointless stuff

Postby Stead » Wed Apr 20, 2005 3:05 am

just wondering, if anyone reads this part of the forum, and i've rea thru a few things people mentioning performance speed etc..and i have a couple o questions

first i would like to say as far as my super human brain has concluded from this project, reactos, is, not...Linux, but it can run windows stuff, but wait longhorn will make this outdated, but unix was around way before some stuff happened, and linux is still going...so why can't reactos have the same chance of sucess? i feel if anything it will be more popular if it gets to its 99.9% coolness binary compatabliity thing (i feel 100% may be asking to much? is that just me? :P )

what kind of hardware must you use to actually notice a performance increase from turning off all the visual options, like font smoothing etc?
only on one computer have i had to turn off the fade in effects becuase it noticably slowed down the computer, turning off other things made no difference.

Why is it in free projects you always have lots of peopel who aren't developing it telling you what has to be done to make it successful, i'm not saying i don't think that cna be useful, its just, i feel bad when i try and post helpful things or defend something, as i'm not actually a developer, and i feel like evil

all the people bringing up performance issues with ntfs/fat/openfat/free filesystem are these actually noticable for average joe user, i can't really see much difference in speed, well any, between fat 32/ntfs, i can however notice a huge difference in speed on computers with raid/witout raid

and one last rant!

to all those who know exactly what reactos needs to be succesful because you think having a woman in a binkini would be a neat logo...
...why do you insist that the project will fail unless your demands are met, if you suggest ideas instead of demand or tell that they are needed i'm sure people will be more open to them, also accept critisim, and don't assume someone is wrong if you disagree, give resonable answers, like

i think a woman in a bikini for a logo would suk cuz i would prefer a ferrari instead
more like, my wife would slap me so hard if she saw that, plus some may find it offensive, and more importantly, you don't want to get sued by femminists!

i'm sure i've repeated myself, but nevermind, after all this is the trash sub-forum? :D

One with old hardware, like ones that cant run it

Because the closed source ones normaly dont let people do this (I think...)

I dont have raid... and I could care less what the fs is, as long as it has some type of permissions

Maybe it helps if you spell correctly in the closing tag? [ /quotE ] instead of [ /quot ]? I'm out of here now, trying to get a life...

heh, yea i felt better about myself, u know, all mighty and what not after that post, and i'm glad i know now you have a limited amount of quotes, unless it was jsut a typo :P

ah well, i'm just glad someone voted on my poll

iguess i am getting a little to sarcastic, i should probably really stop posting! :?

but that thing i said about windows 2000 and linux on the other side, i just ment for the people who insist longhorn will be the next best thing and everyone will throw anyway anything prior to it, i know windows 2003 is based upon 2000, but i was just trying to point out that linux has been going for years, and thats based on old software, just because microsoft changes the way windows works (if it does?) doesn't mean everyone will throw away anything based on the the NT5 core, or dismiss reactos, feel best to post it here than to start a huge flamewar...(although that would be fun in an evil way!)
