Summary: ReactOS doesn't boot inside Parallels
                    (Workstation|Desktop) due to IDE problems
           Product: ReactOS
           Version: 0.3.0
          Platform: x86 Hardware
        OS/Version: ReactOS
            Status: NEW
          Severity: major
          Priority: P3
         Component: Drivers
        AssignedTo: ros-bugs at reactos.org
        ReportedBy: sebastian at frozenlight.de
         QAContact: ros-bugs at reactos.org

When trying to boot Parallels (tried with 0.29 and 0.3RC) inside Parallels
Workstation or Parallels desktop it fails with the follwong error:
-----
Invalid partition table magic 0x2507 found on drive 0x9f

Error Code: 0x0
Error: no error
Press any key
Unable to locate boot partition
----
Things already tried: Virtual harddisks of different size, Setting parallels
acceleration to "slow" or "None". Even without virtual hard disk the boot of
the live CD fails with the same error message.

The IDE Adapter Parallels emulates is an Intel 82801BA (ICH2). Further
information can be found in this thread:
http://www.reactos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2268

Information about Parallels can be found on http://parallels.com They also have
a "hidden" Support Forum: http://forum.parallels.com/ . Contacting the
Parallels developers might work, since they're generally quite responsive. I
would do it, but since I've no idea about ReactOS internals I wouldn't know
what to ask :)

I think supporting Parallels would be good for ReactOS since in Intel-Mac World
it is rapidly becoming the standard in virtualization (there is no VMWare for
Mac).
