I used the "Log Off" button to shut down my computer, because oddly enough it
does better than "Shut Down". When I did this, I got a BSOD with several
characters similar to these both in shape and color:

The context for these characters was "Pid: cccccccc <$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$>", where
"$"=the unknown character.
