GreatLord, it's odd that 2K doesn't work like this, because it should. 
XP and 2003 do and these are our target.

By not tagging the .txt on the end, you are essentially relying on notepad to
handle it for you.
As 'foo' is not available it will try prefixing '.txt' onto the end of the
string which included spaces, thus the file 'foo   .txt' is not found.

This isn't a software bug, it's a human error.
