Tested with r34332 on QEmu, it does not work like on windows. 
ROS opens a command promt window which closes without showing anything useful.
NSIS implements this feature using a named pipe. 

Debug output says:
(drivers/filesystems/npfs/fsctrl.c:372) NpfsPeekPipe
(drivers/filesystems/npfs/fsctrl.c:375) OutputBufferLength: 16
(drivers/filesystems/npfs/fsctrl.c:380) Buffer too small
