I'd suggest using ANSI_VAR_FONT instead of DEFAULT_GUI_FONT for all controls.

If you run ROS Explorer under Windows, only the Start button and the desktop
number buttons are using the wrong font, the clock correctly uses MS Sans
Serif.
According to http://blogs.msdn.com/oldnewthing/archive/2005/07/07/436435.aspx,
DEFAULT_GUI_FONT is deprecated for a long time.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms533988(VS.85).aspx also states that
ANSI_VAR_FONT is a proportional font and no fixed font.

By the way, this worked properly in the past. Explorer began using a fixed font
starting with r27774 (update to Freetype 2.3.5).
