Testing r34977 with the attached patch, I simply get a hang loading pci.sys:

(ntoskrnl/io/pnpmgr/pnpmgr.c:488) Problem: Status=0x80000005, ResultLength = 88

adding -no-acpi to qemu allows it to boot normally.  I'm unable to test any
other platform at the moment.
