Motherboard right name is: Gigabyte GA-8PE800,
and its specs are here:

It uses ordinary Intel 845PE chipset

I don't see there specific IDE controller model name there, it is integrated
into that ICH4, an IC of so-called "south bridge".

Answer is: ICH4 of Intel 845PE chipset: Intel® 82801DB I/O Controller Hub 4
(ICH4).

But, my opinion is IDE controller can read sectors from IDE ports. And it did,
since the same controller was used to reach DVD drive I used to boot liveCD

For me, it looks like something wrong gone while parsing partition table, or
something like that. To my regret I have no so much detailed log as in
attachment.
