A strange thing happens with this programme; which ever way you try to start
the programme, it reboots the computer.
If you double click on desktop shortcut icon, the computer reboots, right click
on desktop shortcut, click open, the computer reboots.
Go to Start, Programs and click on the Family Tree Legends entry, the computer
reboots.
Go to the programme's folder and click either FTLegend.exe or FTL.exe and the
computer reboots. 
This programme has exibited this behaviour even when it was the only additional
programme installed and after a clean install.

If the programme tries to make a connect to the internet, would that cause the
problem?

Quote the User Guide.pdf
"The User Guide will install itself automatically as long as you are connected
to the Internet while running Family Tree Legends."
