I've just retested this issue in VirtualBox, I've ticked "do not show this
dialog anymore" for PCI Device and AC97, and those got listed ENUM\PCI

i.e. AC97
HKLM\CurrentControlSet\ENUM\PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2415&SUBSYS_00008086&REV_01
but "driver" is missing as it was not installed, nonetheless it's not shown in
device manager.
I've tried Nirsoft's DevManView
(http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/device_manager_view.html) and it shows all the
unknown devices and the devices which don't have the driver.
