I will try.  I used the live CD version on real hardware, with legacy USB
support disabled and using a PS/2 mouse.  Once it loaded, since there were no
desktop icons in any of the relevant revisions, I tried to load the explorer
various other ways.  That included opening a Run box and typing in a path, and
using the File Browse link on the Start menu and scrolling to a path.  At the
revision where it broke, the Run method produced an application not found error
with no attempt to load the explorer, while using the file browse feature of
the start menu produced the exception.  On more recent revisions, both methods
produce the exception.  I don't know how to be more exact.
