I have the same problem, MSI KT4V mobo, 256MB RAM, Athlon XP 2200+
I don't have a serial cable to put a log... :(
HDD set as master and CD-ROM as slave, previously used a broken configuration
with HDD as master in IDE2 and CD-ROM as slave in IDE1, with the same results.
