I would also use them here to clarify what I meant.

These make things perfectly clear as to what was wanted.
  (a + b) * c
  a + (b * c) 

At first glance, a + c * c does not, you need to rely on your knowledge of
precedence.

Well, there should be some limit of the number of parentheses, you will 
probably not want to use them in the a + b * c expression.
