I didn't see this discusion.
But as i said, there it is no really _need_ to change anything with the documentation style. You simply can run Doxygen over the existing source and get at least documentation about the bare functions. However you _can_ add extra things like java-doc style comments or insert Doxygen's own commands into comments to enhance the resulting documentation.
