I think, you don't need pipetools on Linux.
They are some native tools helping when debugging using VMWare.
Also pipetunnel uses winsock, which is only available on Windows.

Compiling of the whole directory could be disabled on Unix.
Does VMWare on Linux support named pipes anyway?
