<Rant>

In case anyone has forgotten why this project is critical, RedHat's CEO
summarizes it perfectly:

------

Matthew Szulik, chief executive of Linux vendor Red Hat, said on Monday
that although Linux is capable of exceeding expectations for corporate
users, home users should stick with Windows: "I would say that for the
consumer market place, Windows probably continues to be the right
product line," he said. "I would argue that from the device-driver
standpoint and perhaps some of the other traditional functionality, for
that classic consumer purchaser, it is my view that (Linux) technology
needs to mature a little bit more."

------

ReactOS is uniquely positioned in the Free Software world because of its
native support for Windows drivers and applications. Wine is a great
way for linux people to run windows software, but it will never quite
work right in the end due the fundamentally different kernel and os
architecture it is sitting on. The story is at least as complicated for
drivers.

Next time someone asks you, "What is the point of ReactOS when there is
Linux?" remind them of this.
