Hi,
after the Gigabyte debacles with the installation CD ISO image I tried
a chaintec 5IFM with a Intel P90, LiteON 40x and so on. The problem
reapear. All boards with this error has one thing in common: the AWARD
Version 4.51PG BIOS. This might be a problem. All boards declares that
there is only one Interrupt (14) for the (primary) IDE controller,
don't see the secondary contoller with interupt 15. Then the typical
error messages appears:
IsoBoot: Loading spec packet failed, trying to wing it...
IsoBoot: Found something at drive = 9F
IsoBoot: Failed to get sector size, assuming 0800
Detecting hardware...
The line "IsoBoot: Failed to get sector size, assuming 0800" is
sometimes not available. The boot process sleeps at detecting hardware
and crashes with bsod:
FreeLoader i386 Exception Handler
FreeLoader v1.8.19
Report bugs to ReactOS Kernel Mailing List <ros-kernel at reactos.com>
Exception 05: BOUND EXCEPTION
..{snip}...
Any workaraounds? Any hints? Sorry, but I have only a bunch of
differnet boards with this BIOS to test reactos. The other PCs are in
work and I don't like to even open a screw on this systems. I need
them for my daily work.
All of this boards works fine with OS/2 Warp 3 and/or 4, with MS-DOS
6.22, with DrDOS 7.0x and with slackware 7.01. Bootable CDs with OS/2
and Linux are possible. It's must be a bug in the Reactos boot on the
install CD. :-(
ByeByte
