Hi Hyperion:
I think that for the ntoskrnl+hal there could be some kind of compression + CRC/HASH (the hal is small but ntoskrnl is 500-600 Kb and packed with 7-zip it goes about 100Kb). Load little + decompress < Load Big from harddisk/floppy/CD. It is not paged out anyway and in the future I don't expect a big part of it to be paged. I was thinking that we could free also some pages containing initialization stuff. Why have them in memory when they are not going to be used anymore?
