Working with ReactOS

From ReactOS

This page is probably outdated

The information on this page might not be valid for the current state of ReactOS.
A Wiki Administrator should look at this page and decide or discuss what to do with it.

This is a small summary of what you can do with ReactOS 0.3 when it's released.
Please also check the ReactOS list of supported hardware.

Things you can do:

  • Send emails with Mozilla Thunderbird (hopefully).
  • Browse the internet with Mozilla Firefox.
  • Chat on ICQ, IRC or MSN with MirandaIM.
  • Manage your Files with the ReactOS Explorer.
  • Read and write documents with OpenOffice.

But there are also things that you may not be able to do:

  • Play games because DirectX doesn't work perfectly right now.
(OpenGL works official nVidia drivers, sw accelerated OpenGL works).
  • Listen to your music .
(NT4 Sound Blaster driver distributed with NT4 and the official Creative ES1371 driver for NT4 work, view this wiki entry and this wiki entry).
  • Work with an NTFS partition, only FAT is supported so far.
  • Work with your USB-devices (task for 0.4.x).
(USB only with "Legacy Device emulation" enabled in the BIOS, so NO real USB support yet).
  • Print your documents, printing is not supported (task for 0.5.x).
This page is a short article on something that should have a lot more information written on it.

If you know anything else about it, you are STRONGLY encouraged to add the information in. If you are unsure of proper formatting or style, add it to the talk page or this page itself as you think best and others will help.
