Re: EPIC WIN!

This is truly an Epic Win for me... Back in the 1990s I wrote my first big software project. I wrote it in VB6 to familiarise myself with one of the languages being used by the programmers that I worked with (I was the Project Manager for a few projects at that time). I had previously started it Qui...

Re: So impressed by ReactOS 0.4.14

I've raised three of these successful tests as epic Wins. Some more testing reveals: o process hacker - installs - runs - operates. o resource hacker - installs - runs - operates - not yet used it in anger to replace default icons. o setup2go - installs - runs - operates - a few on screen artefact e...

Re: EPIC WIN!

RJTextEd, a decent advanced editor.

Installs and runs almost flawlessly. There are some on screen artefacts and transparency causes a problem on the image map but other than that the program functions and is usable.

Console2, an open source console replacement tool that operates 100% more efficiently than the Windows CMD offering allowing copy/paste and window transparency. It installs and operates flawlessly on ReactOS in seemingly all respects other than that of transparency. https://i.imgur.com/QpKCchl.png T...

Free Extended Task Manager by Extensoft. It was always an improvement on the basic task manager giving additional useful information such as the current highest resource user when hovering over the performance chart for CPU, memory or disk i/o. https://i.imgur.com/quC4UQt.png It installs and runs fl...

Re: So impressed by ReactOS 0.4.14

A little more quick testing using the tools I would typically use on an XP system. Simple installs, no attempts at workarounds. add/remove pro - installs - runs - operates cintanotes - installs - runs - crashes - takes ReactOS with it, hanging. console 2 - installs - runs - operates context - instal...

Re: So impressed by ReactOS 0.4.14

Tested the following: o RJTextEd - an advanced editor - installs correctly, runs OK, no issues yet found. An Epic Win I suggest. o Adobe Photoshop CS (ver 8.0) install failure - will re-test o Xwidget - installs correctly, all transparent areas blacked out and graphic areas frozen, suspected GDI iss...

So impressed by ReactOS 0.4.14

I've avoided testing ReactOS for a long time (since 0.3.nn) as the 0.3 versions showed some basic promise as to what ReactOS would become - but in general end-user terms the 0.3 series was a let-down, so much being promised but so little delivered with regard to usability and stability. This was com...

Re: User "blackwingcat" from the msfn BB

Logo - great, the name, Opendows looks enough at first glance to be "Open VMS" and that made me smile. There is or will be a point where the components of ReactOS will be mature enough to do what you suggest, substituting one object for another. In any case the completeness of the functionality cont...

Re: ReactOS built in C# (crazy idea)

I am not sure whether people understand that a .NET program needs to run on a framework in order to take advantage of what that framework offers. The framework needs to be present in order for the program to operate so in the proposed case, the framework would have to be running before the o/s was s...

Ah and also as I can see, you hated it from the very beginning. :|
Oh yes, absolutely, hatred for the image is an appropriate description.

Re: Re: Mascot for ReactOS

These Japanese style big-eyed 'girl' drawings trivialise the seriousness of the work that has gone into ReactOS. There is always a sense of implied sexuality in the whole genre and it is wholly incorrect for any association with a body of work such as ours which wants the world to take it seriously....

Re: ReactOS 0.4.12 in Real Steel (how to)

I have a machine that I had dedicated to ReactOS but it has lain fallow for a year as I could not get it to work at all. It may be time to give it another go.
