Re: "What killed the Linux desktop"

Unfortunately anyone can have an opinion. But that was from August. In the world of OpenSource things progress alot quicker then in closed source land which is why even proprietary Software needs opensource as a crutch. Here's a more recent take on the subject from TechRepublic.. http://www.techrepu...

Re: Source code owner by wine guys or not

Hi CodeVisio, I don't know how deep you wanted to get into this. But basically I think it's more like this. A while back in the early days there was some discussion of having the ROS and Wine projects share source (people from both projects thought of this as an advantageous thing). Basically it's a...

Re: ReactOS 1.0 must based on Windows 2003.

Re: "What killed the Linux desktop"

I read this article a while ago. The only thing is that it's too little too late. Several articles were written to this effect years ago. Why too late ? Because we're basically over the desktop. That in itself was one of a million hurdles Linux had too face in competing. People forget Linux came at ...

Re: ReactOS Project decision?

I think the problem people forget is that ReactOS is opensource and what that means. Generally speaking it means as long as there are people whom are interested in continuing the project there will be life in it. It's not going to die simply because some people may walk away (although it may slow do...

Re: ReactOS on ARM, a niche to fill?

There are alot of nay-sayers here sometimes. But this project is very doable. Don't forget Windows NT 3.x/4.x ports as well as early opensource DOS' (i.e. FreeDOS) being ported to multiple processor architectures. Alot of this can easily be accomplished using a model for VM Subsystems like those in ...
