Re: Wallpapers for ReactOs

Besides that the S and R in ReactOS is not capitalized, and the difference in font, these look really good.

Nice work!

Re: Linus Torvalds he gave his opinion on assembly

I kinda agree with Reactionist at this point, why don't I just make a thread that goes like this: In this thread he gave his opinion on assembly : " Robert Gadzerfraud says that unless you are working on a 8086 or bootstrapping an OS, that assembly is not useful." What do you think about t...

Re: For most programmers, it is foolish currently develop in

Ahh ... QuickBasic, my go to for quickly testing some stuff.
I like QB64 for its extensions but it does suck it does not have a interpreter mode, only compiler.
It cuts down on productivity speed when what you're working spends more time compiling than it does running.

Re: ***IMPORTANT!*** A ShellShock-like [?] vuln in MS Windo

I don't get why you listed the password thing as a flaw.

When the system is offline it can't actively protect itself.
It can well put up a fence, but there wont be a person to stand in the way.
Hence why many of those programs like Deep Freeze can be broken provided offline access

Re: Blog: Memory Manager Development

Just to clarify something, in this quote "The ARM team began a rewrite" What is ARM referring to here?

ARM3 or the Processor Architecture?

If the latter, does any of this apply to x86?

Re: Localized char. encoding in LFN messed up filesystem

(Speaking from memory so, sorry if I get something wrong) IIRC Characters that don't fit in the codepage of the current system were dropped or translated into (best fit) characters. For example. if you couldn't store "á" because its not in the codepage, then you could either drop the lette...

Re: exe execute in linux

If the only thing that made Windows different from Linux was .exe, then sure. Except that this is not the case. Windows library set, kernel, and apis are different than what say Linux or OS X provides, and you'd also have to provide compatible libraries. This is part of what Wine does, and currently...

Re: Companys still useing XP after it is dead

I am still using OS/2 Warp 3 on a UM8810P-AIO</offtopic> I don't exactly see what the problem of continuing to use XP is. Most (all?) of those examples are generally not running a main windows program. They have their own software and drivers to manage and use the extra hardware such as coin dispens...

Re: ReactOS and TrueCrypt

Well, if BitLocker could: Encrypt the entire harddrive Make volumes that looked like random data and not VHD's Make hidden partitions, Use unpartitioned space Was avaliable for every version of Windows Then I'd be fine with this. But uhh ... It can't. That was a stupid reason to discontinue TrueCryp...

Re: Blog: Advancing the TODO list...

Oh man, that is quite the experience change.
This new explorer feels much more improved and usable.

BSOD'd when pressing backspace in the Address Bar, seems reproducable by constantly hitting backspace, will get debug logs in a bit.
EDIT: Debug log here
