Re: When will we see new features
I blame the current vomit-inducing design of the website. A non-intuitive mess that resembles fake advertisement sites, that have the same inoperable layout, and its "creators" that quickly lost interest in fixing it and abandoned it altogether after the damage has already been done. The f...

Re: ReactOS Windows Equivalent?
The tl;dr version: OS editions are nothing but marketing crap of MS. Aside some missing applications between both "server" and "client" editions, the difference between them is a single registry switch. That's all. It doesn't matter a thing to consumer if the OS is either "c...

Re: Version compatibility
Question for you: If you had a supported version of XP and it could run NT6 programs would you be happy? It may be enough to simply achieve that. Yes. And this is exactly what I've achieved on my rig so far. Not in their entirety, but thanks to cross-compiled libs from Wine and a bit of HEX editing...

Re: Version compatibility
Sorry to burst your bubble, Val, but personal insults will led you nowhere . Over my life I've met a metric ton of scenarios where UAC, TrustedInstaller, the symlinks and even NTFS itself caused various breakages or outright bricked the devices. Aside doing my job as an admin, I've been repairing st...

Re: Version compatibility
UAC is garbage. TrustedInstaller is garbage. Symlinks are garbage that made impossible to install NT6 onto FAT32, not to mention that directory redirections only added unneeded and unwanted complexity with virtually zero benefits, including the security aspect. Administrating or repairing NT6+ is a ...

Re: ReactOS on Patreon?
The major caveat is Patreon takes a cut. A rather large one, and can refuse to give you the money by the end of the month for no apparent reason. Screw them.

I've tested this wrapper, and sadly the supplied auto-installer renders the system unbootable. It can be found here (see xXX/Packages directory): *removed* Tested against Windows XP SP3 and Windows XP x64 SP2. In the first case, the system stopped with black screen after loading splash. In the secon...

Re: ROS Gaming? :D lol
Seamless ReactOS gaming is impossible without the following things: * Applying patch that allows bigger number of software shader slots - fixes games like The Sims 2 and Jinko Shoujo 3 * Allowing dwmapi and other runtime libraries from Wine that were originally introduced in Vista to co-exist with N...

Hi all! I am the developer of the open source project Advanced Trigonometry Calculator. https://sourceforge.net/projects/advantrigoncalc/ Could I help ReactOS providing my calculator to the ReactOS operating system? What I need to do? Thanks in advance, Renato Freitas Propose the application to be ...

Re: (Poll) Change new NTVDM icon
I don't like the green color, to be honest. Maybe we can replicate the Windows 2000 recycling bin icon, as I liked how that looked. It doesn't have to be transparent, like it was in XP, as that usually costs a little more in resources anyways. You do realize EVERY 32-bit Tango icon has partial tran...

Re: ReactOS 0.4.2 and + Source Code
Personally, I always had problems with both Git and SVN, because they are very unstable and unreliable on a cellular connection due to large amount of connections and ping-backs they generate (especially if your ping is over 2 seconds). This is the main purpose of compressed archives - to transfer e...

Re: Will ReactOS be ready when Windows 8.1 is phased out?
*snip* Nice customization! :D The answer to your first question is "unlikely", giving the pace of current development speed and the amount of financial investments put into project. The answer to your second question, however, is "it's already possible". If memory serves me well...

Re: My icons for pifmgr.dll
These icons should contain icon for 16 color mode. Actually, they don't. 16-colour icons were done back in Win 3.1 / 95 days, hence they used the common 16-colour palette. Nowadays, you won't see any Windows installation running in 16-colour mode by default, not to mention the applications themselv...

Use UltraISO to edit the .iso file (it's a shareware, you'll need to register it first). Always works for me.

Re: An idea about directly installation for font
More importantly, there is no need to use any third-party tools for font installation. You can simply copy the font file into ReactOS\Fonts directory (although the "Install/Deinstall" button in Font Viewer, as well as navigation buttons that don't exist in Windows Font Viewer) would be con...
