Re: ROS and Win 10,11,...

Thank you for your interest in the project alaxei2. I do want to apologize for the in my opinion a bit harsh response of emuandco. >>I would like to be able to strip ROS from features I dislike, such as anymations, shadows, themes, IPv6, SendTo, and other "modern" stuff. I mean get rid of ...

Re: Reactos 0.4.15 release status ?
But how do we build fresh nightly builds then?
With an infrastructure that works, but which will be subject of change over time. Which is not desireable for a release. We do need a host with a fixed toolset again, like the carrier-releaser was, or at least some kind of stabl...

Re: Set up VirtualBox for x64 and/or multi-core tests

I am personally not entirely sure, whether VBox does allow exposing multiple cores to the VM at all. For me at least on a DualCore host system without any VT-x that option is always greyed out in the VMs settings. You might have more luck when trying that with VMware. But I wouldn't expect ros to ma...

Re: Reactos 0.4.15 release status ?

Michal_F The release branches up to now are also built with debug information and configuration. What indeed does change for the releases is that we do add a lot more components there like additional fonts for asian languages, and tons of other applications, wallpapers and screensavers. For the tool...

Re: Reactos 0.4.15 release status ?

Thank you for your interest in ReactOS. Branching the 0.4.15 release is blocked by 2 things: 1.) https://jira.reactos.org/browse/CORE-17624 which is a regression of the Memory Manager rewrite 2.) We do not have the infrastructure set up yet to build the releases with the new compiler GCC8.4.0 yet an...

Re: Using NTCrash2 to find blue screens of death.

A good idea. Please do the same with debuglog creation. And create a JIRA ticket for each finding with logs attached.
Does the app offer any way to attack twice via the exact same vector to verify whether a specific fix helped or not?

Re: Im Jahr 2025 ist Reactos "fertig"...

Trust me. Even in 2025 ros will not be ready as a serious alternative to Windows for regular peoples desktop usage. Maybe for people using single core machines, from around 2002 or earlier. But there won't be many of those existing anymore in 5years. We lack much too many really important features s...

Re: I think fork Media Player Classic as ReactOS Media Player is a good choice

I think for ReactOS its enough to have two built-in players: mplay32.exe which uses MCI API, and amovie.ocx thingy which uses DirectShow API and runs within rundll32 context. Other more advanced third-party players can be installed from external sources. I 100% agree to binarymaster's position.

Re: roadmap and priorities

As new release manager my position is the following: In general developers should always decide what to do next because they know much better than any manager or the wisdom of the masses what makes most sense to do next. They have a good feeling for the next lowest hanging fruit - which means what a...

I agree with manuel here.
Using the icons from shell32 would give native look & feel and would furthermore rreduce regedits binary size.

Re: Poll to choose exe files icon

I voted for 1. But I could arrange with 1,2,4... 2 could be an issue with gear becoming unrecognizable in 16x16 (think Quicklaunch) 3 As middings I fear a gear is easy to be misunderstood as "options". And that one is too much "into your face" 4 Icon 4 has an interesting advantag...
